The Department of Juvenile Justice has entered into a partnership with Augusta University to provide healthcare services to the youth in DJJ's care.

Starting January 1st, Department of Juvenile Justice medical employees will become employees of Augusta University, home to the Medical College of Georgia.

The DJJ workforce personnel affected by the transition includes: Regional Health Services Administrators, Lead Nurses, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Medical Clerks.

For the past 20 years, Augusta University has successfully operated Georgia Correctional Healthcare for the Department of Corrections' adult prison population. In addition, Augusta University operates Children's Hospital of Georgia, providing quality care for children and adolescents.
